Bombers Add A Couple More Exhibition Games

The Flin Flon Bombers have added a couple extra pre-season games to get ready for the regular season.

 

The Bombers will head to Prince Albert to play the Kindersley Klippers on Sunday September the 12th at the Art Hauser Center.

 

Flin Flon will also play an additional game against the OCN Blizzard  at the Whitney Forum on Tuesday September the 14th at 7:30.

 

Don't forget that Top Shelf Bistro will be having their grand opening today from 2-4 at the Whitney Forum which will include a skate with the Bombers.

 

Main Camp will open this Thursday with registration at noon with the Maroon and White game this Saturday at 7:30.

 

102.9 CFAR will provide reports through out the weekend.

Registration Under One Roof

Flin Flon Parks and Rec will be holding Registration Under One Roof at the Flin Flon Community Hall on Wednesday September the 8th starting at 5.

 

This will once again be your opportunity to sign up the kids for all the fall and winter activities at one time.

 

The FF Skating Club, Judo, Northern Lights Dance Academy, Girl Guides and After School Sporting Programs are all confirmed to be taking part.

 

Kelsey Andersen from the Parks and Rec Office says more organizations will be added including some from Creighton.

Good Local Contingent Make Northstars Roster

The Norman Northstars held their training camp this past weekend in Thompson and have put together their roster for this season.

 

Four players from Flin Flon have made the team which includes returning forward's Nolan Rideout and Magnus Pearson as well as new additions , defenseman Gage Gogal and goaltender Paxton Moore.

 

This year's roster will also include 9 players from Thompson,  4 from Rankin Inlet, 3 from Norway House and one from Cross Lake and Coral Harbour.

 

The Northstars did manage to get in 6 games before last season was called due to Covid 19 and are really looking forward to getting in a full season this year.

 

The season will kick off the weekend of September the 25th and 26th when Norman will host the Southwest Cougars.

 

 

 

 

Bombers Open Up Main Camp

The Flin Flon Bombers will open up Main Camp this Thursday September the 2nd at the Whitney Forum.

 

It will wrap up with the annual Maroon and White game on Saturday September the 4th at 7:30.

 

The rest of the schedule looks like this.

 

Thursday- Sept 2nd

12pm- Registration

4pm- Team Blue Practise

5pm- Team Yellow Practise

6:30- Team Green Practise

 

Friday- Sept 3rd

10-11 am- Blue VS Yellow

11:30-12:30- Blue VS Green

5-6- Green VS Yellow

6:30-7:30- Blue VS Yellow

 

Sat- Sept 4th

11-12 noon- Blue VS Green

12:30-1:30- Green VS Yellow

7:30- Maroon and White game.

 

Sun Sept 5th

Pre season game VS Laronge at 7:30 

 

 

Hapnot Volleyball Camp

Hapnot Collegiate will be holding a volleyball  warm up camp starting on Monday August the 30th and going til Wednesday September the 1st.

 

The camp will be available to all high school students including grade's  9 and 10 between 10 and 12 and grade's 11-12 between 1 and 3.

 

The lead instructors are Craig McIntosh and B. McCullough.

 

You can register by sending an e-mail to cmcintosh@ffsd.mb.ca. Make sure you include your name, contact information and grade.

 

There will be a maximum of 18 athletes per time slot and masks will be required.

Buffalo Returns To The Bombers

A former Flin Flon Bomber goalie stand out is returning to the organization for the 2021-22 season as the team's new goalie coach.

 

Devin Buffalo, who starred for the Bombers in the mid 2000's is returning to Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

 

Head Coach and GM. Mike Reagan made the announcement on social media today. “We are very excited to bring Devin back as our goalie coach. His experience playing at a high level and earning a Division I scholarship as a Bomber will greatly benefit our players and organization. Devin is very well respected and knows what it means to be a Bomber. Welcome back Buff!”

 

Buffalo played three seasons with the Bombers between 2011-14 and was the SJHL Rookie Of The Year in 2011.

 

Devin played in 105 games with the Bombers and had an incredible .940 save % in his final season which helped him get an NCAA  scholarship to Dartmouth.

 

Buffalo continued to shine in college and was nominated for the Hobey Baker Award for the top player in college hockey in the US in 2018.

 

The Bombers also announced some additions to their scouting staff with the additions of Mitch Van Teeling and Travis Baber.

 

Mitch will cover Southern Ontario and Travis a former captain of the Dauphin Kings will assist Head Scout Jon Klassen in Saskatchewan.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Minor Hockey Looking For Coach's And Referees

Flin Flon Minor Hockey is looking for anybody who may be interested in coaching the U-11 A Rep teams for the up coming season which will start in a few weeks.

 

You need to complete the coaching application on the FFMH website and have it completed a.s.a.p.

 

Flin Flon Minor Hockey is also looking for referees for the up coming season and if you are interested in that you can e-mail technicaldirectorffmh@gmail.com.

Rodnisky Wins The Senior Open

Duke Rodnisky fired a 71 at the Phantom Lake Golf Club yesterday and is the 2021 Senior's Open Champion.

 

Harold " The Silver Fox" Harris and Doug Anderson also finished in the Championship Flight.

 

Murray Skeavington shot a 78 to take the First Flight while Brian Bortis fired off a couple of late  birdies to win the Second.

 

Third Flight- Steve Stelmach- 84

 

Fourth Flight- Tim Coutts- 86

 

Fifth Flight- Roger Armstrong- 92

 

Patty Bilquist was the top Ladie's golfer with a 87.

 

72 golfers teed off in what turned out to be a decent day of weather and the PLGC appreciates all your support and look forward to seeing everyone out for the Walt.

 

FFMH Early Registration

Early bird registration is on now for Flin Flon Minor Hockey as they are only a few weeks from the beginning of the season.

 

If you register before September the 13th you will save $100.00 off your fees.

The season will start on September the 7th.

Bomber Season Ticket Blitz

The Flin Flon Bombers have announced their season ticket blitz for the up coming season.

 

If you pick up a season ticket before September the 4th you will receive a discount.

 

Here are the early bird prices:

 

Adult- $350.00

Senior (over 60)- $300.00

Student(13-17)- $180.00

Child (6-12)- $ 130

 

You can stop by the Bomber office to pick up your tickets and they will be open this weekend.

 

The hours are 1-5 Thursday and Friday, and 12-4 on Saturday.

 

Flin Flon Bomber AGM Highlights

The Flin Flon Bombers held their annual general meeting last night at the Creighton Community Hall.

 

Flin Flon Bomber President, Travis Rideout greeted the crowd and thanked all the fans and corporite sponsors for their continued success.

 

Rideout  also mentioned that all the players will be double vaccinated and as of today they will be allowed 50 % capacity for fans in attendance. This could change before the start of the season.

 

Masks will be recommended but not mandatory.

 

The Bombers have  announced season ticket prices for the up coming season and if you pick your's up before September the 4th, you will receive a discount.

 

Contact the Bomber office for details at 204-687-4404. They will be selling tickets at the office this Thursday and Friday 1-5 and Saturday 12-4.

 

Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan talked about a very competitive camp that took place in Saskatoon last month and looks forward to main camp starting September the 2nd.

 

They have three goalies signed and six returning d-men to go along with a deep forward group and feel like they will be a competitive team once again.

 

The Bombers held some successful fundraisers including two cash draws and the boat draw and are working on paying back some interest free loans from  Covid.

 

Elections took place and here are the Board of Directors for the 2021-22 season.

 

President- Travis Rideout- 2 year term

Vice- Eldrid Dicks

Treasurer- Janice Slipp

 

Two Year Directors- Matt Morrison, Kelly Mansell and Billy Williamson.

 

One Year Director- Adam Ricard, Rob Simon, Angie Simpson, Donavan Smith and Damien Dominey.

 

 

Lee Off To World Championships

The World Championships in Russia are next for Flin Flon's Carson Lee as they will start this Monday.

 

Lee will be one of three wrestlers from our country to compete and will be looking to improve on a second place finish at the Junior Pan Am Championships.

 

2020 was a tough year for sports due to Covid 19 but it did not stop Carson from being selected U-Sports Male Rookie  Of The Year.

 

Lee will be competing in the 82kg event and is three time National Medalist, four time Provincial Medalist, 2017 Silver Medalist at the Canada Summer Games and a 2018 Cadet World Bronze Medalist.

Northstars Preparing For The Season

The Norman Northstars are gearing up for another Manitoba Midget Triple A season starting in September.

They will hold their conditioning camp next week and will hold try-outs the weekend of August the 27th at the CA Nesbitt Arena in Thompson.

They are encouraging people to register as soon as possible as they want to have an idea of what to expect for numbers, but will except registration right til the camp starts.

Norman will kick off the season at home with a pair of games against the Southwest Cougars September the 25th and 26th.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Robertson Wins Award

Reid Robertson may have graduated from the Flin Flon Bombers but he has left a lasting legacy.

 

The SJHL announced that Robertson has won the RBC Community Ambassador Award for the second time in a row.

 

Robertson,  was not only a poppular team-mate but very poppular in the community where he worked in the Flin Flon School Division and was a mentor for the Hockey Academy program.

 

RBC will donate $1000.00 to Ecole McIsaac school  on behalf of Reid's name.

 

Robertson played three seasons for the Maroon and White where he picked up 32 points in 52 games.

 

Reid was regarded as one of the best power forwards in the league and was an Assistant Captain his 20 year old season cut short due to Covid.

Extreme Hockey School Is Taking Registration

It is official, with restrictions being lifted the Extreme Hockey School is now taking registration for their 23rd season starting later this month.

 

The Programs will start August the 23rd for Junior's 6-9, Skill Development 12-15

and Conditioning 14 and over.

 

The Specialty Clinics will go August the 26th to the 28th for Power Skating and Shooting and Stick Handling.

 

Mike Reagan is back as the head instructor and will be joined by Assistant Coach,  Cole McCaig and  lots of Bomber players including local products Jordan Pfoh and Justin and Joey Lies.

 

The registration skate will take place on Sunday August the 22nd, 7 PM at the Whitney Forum.

Bombers Release Pre- Season Schedule

The SJHL Regular season is slated to get going on September the 24th when the Flin Flon Bombers will take on the Melfort Mustangs in a home and home to open up the season.

 

The Bombers will get a chance to fine tune things with 4 exhibition games which will kick off in early September.

 

The hockey club announced their pre-season schedule earlier today:

 

Sunday Sept the 5th VS Laronge at 7:30

Friday September the 10th at OCN, 7PM.

Saturday September the 11th VS OCN at 7:30

Friday September the 17th at Laronge at 8:30 MB time.

 

The 102.9 CFAR broadcast schedule will be released soon.

Walt Cunningham Classic

The Walt Cunningham Men's Labour Day Classic is just a few weeks away,  and  will kick off on Saturday September the 4th  and carry through Sunday and Monday September the 5th and 6th at the Phantom Lake Golf Club.

 

This is the premiere golf tournament of the year,  which not only see's a good local contingent but golfers that come in from far and wide.

 

There will be two shotgun starts at 9 and 1:30 with a maximum of 120 golfers.

 

Entry fee is $120.00 and fees must be paid at the time of sign up.

Bombers Announce Their AGM

The Flin Flon Bombers will host their AGM on Monday August the 16th, at the Creighton Community Hall starting at 7.

 

The agenda will include a financial statement from the Treasurer, President's report, a report from the Coach and Gm as well as elections for the Board Of Directors .

 

Information will also be available on season tickets and a chance to ask questions from the floor.

Norman Wild Try Outs

The Norman Wild Under 15 Bantam Girls will be holding try-outs at the Whitney Forum Friday August the 27th to Sunday August the 29th.

 

This is open to Under 15 girls and second year U-13 will be invited.

 

Registration will be Friday at 5 with on ice sessions through out Saturday and Sunday with a parent information meeting to follow on Sunday night.

 

Registration forms are on the Flin Flon Minor Hockey Web-site and must be submitted by August the 15th to Darin Mansell at darinmansell@gmail.com. 

 

This is a free try-out
