Bombers Season Is Over

The Flin Flon Bombers saw their season come to an end this Friday when they lost in Double OT to the Humboldt Broncos 2-1.

It looked like the Bomber's fortunes were changing when Riley Storzuk scored with only 1 :11 remaining in regulation to tie the game.

The Bombers got some good chances to win it in the first over time but once again could not beat Matt Hrynkiw.

It took Joey Davies just over a minute to decide the game in the second over time when he scored 1:05 in to win the game and series for the Broncos.

Humboldt takes it 4 games to 1 and yes it could of easily went the other way with 3 of the Bronco victories coming in OT. Two of them decided in Double OT.

Devin Buffalo was sensational in the entire series including 55 saves in game 5 as he gave the Bombers a chance to win every game. Buffalo was definately the Bombers Playoff MVP.

The fans cheered the Bombers on right to the very end, and there had to be at least 300 Bomber fans in Humboldt Friday night. The crowd support for the entire playoff run was amazing.

I would like to personally congratulate the entire Bomber organization on a very entertaining season. Everyone from Hank and the board to all the volunteers throughout the year, Mike Reagan, Michael George and Seden, the great sponsors and fans who make this the most fun team to cover in Junior A hockey. Of course a big thank you to the players who entertained us for the past 7 months. This was one of the best Bomber teams we have had and it is a real shame we didn't make it to the league final. The Whitney Forum would have exploded and I think we could of gotten 2000 fans in the building.

Good luck to all the graduating 20 year olds.

Brett Penner, Jason Wark, Riley Storzuk, Konrad Litke, Andy Blanke, Brandt Weldon, Josh Roach, Spencer Mault and team captain Dylan Balaski. You will certainly be missed.

The Bomber season would have to be deemed a success after another 30 plus win season which included a 22-5 record at the Whitney Forum. The Bombers also defeated Nipawin 4 games to 2 in the North Semi-Final which was one of the most entertaining and emotional series I have ever been a part of. Not to mention one of the loudest.

I am fully expecting Mike Reagan to be back as Head Coach and GM and continue to work hard at bringing an SJHL Championship back to Northern MB and Saskatchewan.

Good luck to both the Humboldt Broncos and Yorkton Terriers who kick off the Canalta Cup final starting Friday in Humboldt.

The Bombers will host their spring camp May the 24th to 26th in Saskatoon at the Shroh Arena.. Contact the Bomber office for more details at: 204-687-4404 or flinflonbombers@mymts.net

Here's to a great season
