New Mayor Roger Armstrong, and Councillor’s Heather Richardson, Joe Buie, Jon Smalley, Ken Brough, Mike Slipp and Steve Lytwyn were all sworn into office after being elected into office after last week’s Civic Election.

New Mayor Roger Armstrong commented that they have divided up into various committees and the new council look forward to getting to work on a number of issues a.sa.p.

Councillor Slipp commented that the Local  Safety Committee is looking forward to getting together with the Canadian Centre  for Safer Communities later this month to go over the findings of a recent survey.

Once this report is approved it will be presented to Council and then the Committee will start to implement it. Slipp also mentioned that they will continue to work together with Creighton and Denare Beach.

The City has hired a new By-Law Officer Josh Wiens who has lived in Flin Flon for 20 years and recently worked with the Flin Flon School Division.

Councillor Steve Lytwyn said this is an excellent addition and this position will help the overall community appearance and help build relationships.

Long time Councillor Heather Richardson was also sworn in as the Deputy Mayor for an 8 month term.
