Tomorrow is the day to wear Orange as we recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day across the country including Flin Flon.

 

There will be a ceremony in Flin Flon as we learn, reflect and acknowledge the children that never made it home.

 

Steve Lytwyn is the chair for the Flin Flon Reconciliation Committee and he speaks about the importance of this day. " Well it's an important day because it is remembering all of the children and the families who went to the Residential schools. Young kids taken away from their families that never returned home, so there is a lot pf hardship and suffering. It is important for Canadians to recognize the true history of Canada, and to celebrate and come together and support everybody."

 

 

This walk is open to everybody  in the community and you are asked to gather for the walk at the Flin Flon Friendsip Centre at 11:45am. The walk will start at noon , making it’s way down Main Street  to Pioneer Square for a Drum Song and  Opening Prayer led by Elder Margaret.

 

There will also be speeches by dignitaries, an invitation to speak freely on your thoughts and feelings with some entertainment, a plaque presentation  and lunch provided by the Friendship Centre.
