New North is an advocacy group in Northern Saskatchewan elected by different officials right across the region who represent all 35 Municipalities. They advocate with both the Provincial and Federal Government on bringing different programs and services to the North.
Creighton Mayor Bruce Fiddler is the East Side Director and Vice Chair representing all the East side Communities including Creighton, Denare Beach, Sandy Bay and Pelican Narrows. New North has just hired a new C.E.O, Terry Lynn Beaver-eye who will be in both Creighton and Denare Beach today.
Fiddler talks about the purpose of the C.E.O’S visit. " She has been in the North for many years and is very familliar with Northern issues.So she is travelling around to all the communities and introducing herself, and getting the community and council's thoughts on what New North should be doing or not doing."
The meeting will take place at Creighton Town Hall this afternoon and on September the 25th their AGM will take place in Prince Albert where are members of the Municipalities can bring their issues to the Board. They will then move forward in what ever direction they feel is necessary.
