It was a ground breaking day for UCN in Flin Flon yesterday as they celebrated the grand opening of the new Student Housing facility, at the Northern Manitoba Mining Community.
Jamie Grant who is the Associate Vice President calls it a huge milestone for Flin Flon and the North. “It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally here, and really what this is now allowing us to do at UCN it’s we’re actually able to expand our programming. We’ve got some new programs already rolled up for this fall, surveyor assistance, something that we’ve never offered here in Flin Flon starting mid September. And students actually staying in residence, we’ve got mining programs, we’ve got nursing, we’ve got geological programs being planned for the future. So, this is just the beginning of what’s to come for programming for Flin Flon. So, stay tuned there’s going to be some pretty exciting stuff.”
There are 30 individual rooms, 8 Executive Suites, a Recreational Centre with gym equipment and a pool table and a full functioning Dining Hall.
Students will start to arrive on September the 7th from all over including Saskatchewan, Southern Manitoba and First Nation Communities right across the North. You can apply for student housing by going to ucn.ca and filling out the intake form under Flin Flon Student Residence.
