Second Take Of Wildfire Resilience Program

Due to the hardships that the 2025 wildfires caused Travel Manitoba was able to launch the Wildfire Resilience Assistance Program.

Through the first intake, they   have been able to supply Value Protection Units to 56 lodges and operators to help protect their buildings and outposts during wildfires.

They  know that some operators have already used these VPUs this summer, and they  know there are still more operators interested in the program. As a result they will  launch a second intake for the program, with applications  now open. The VPUs will be available for pickup over the winter, for use during the 2027 wildfire season.

This second round of the program falls within the existing Travel Manitoba WRAP budget. Under the program, eligible tourism operators will get subsidies of up to 90 per cent for the purchase of wildfire protection equipment. The program also includes FireSmart training along with tailored business assessments. Each kit, which is designed to be compatible with Manitoba Wildfire Service’s standard equipment, includes sprinklers, hoses, a water pump and all necessary connections.

Interested lodges and operators are invited to submit their application by September 10th. If you have questions about the process, please email Travel Manitoba directly at tourismprograms@travelmanitoba.com
