It has just been over a year since the Wolf Fire went through and ravaged Denare Beach, wiping out a third of the Village.
A lot of homes are getting rebuilt and the residents have refused to let that set back get the best of them as they have proven strong resiliency and strength during a very difficult time.
Adult and Teen Challenge saw their centre burn down and will be relocating to the old CO-OP building on Flin Flon’s Main Street. Al Legore says he is excited about a new chapter and the opening of their new Thrift Store very soon.
" A year go's by very fast when you are dealing with insurance, but we are finally moving ahead. Our program obviously isn't up and running yet, but we have the building. We have moved into the old CO-OP building and we have started on the reservations at least to get the Thrift Store ready for opening. So our plan is to ready to have it ready for the end of August, then have our grand opening in September."
After the Thrift Store is open they will continue the renovations on re-opening the Centre by hiring staff, getting the building up to code for the residents and getting all their permits through. They will be looking to house between 15 to 20 students and 5 staff members.
There is also a plan to open a Coffee Shop as well. Donations are always welcome at teenchallenge.tc.
