Dauphin Has Declared A State Of Emergency

After severe flooding  has  hammered  the province’s Parkland region the city of Dauphin has declared a state of emergency.

In a social media post, the City of Dauphin said they’ve received approximately 115 millimetres of rain.

Premier Wab Kinew said that the decision was made  to evacuate the Dauphin Regional Health Centre, transporting 57 patients and one infant to Brandon and other appropriate facilities.

In some parts of the region, flooding is so extreme that it washed out a bridge on Highway 10 by the fishing river.

The town of Swan River has also issued a partial mandatory evacuation as water levels increase.

Apart from Dauphin and Swan River, Swan Valley West, Minitonas, Bozeman, Ethelbert, and the mountain area are feeling the most significant impacts.

“Currently, there are 30 states of local emergency that have been declared related to this event. There are over 50 provincial road closures and countless municipal road closures,” said Christine Stevens, the director of EMO.

The province is reminding residents throughout Parkland to monitor their local communication channels for updates..
