National Indigenous Peoples Day Is This Sunday

National Indigenous People’s Day will be celebrated right across the country this Sunday June the 21st including a big celebration in the Flin Flon area.

 

Vanessa Campbell is the Elder Coordinator and she mentions the different events that you will be able to enjoy on Sunday. " So we are going to have the Nemihitowok Hoop Troop performing as well as Ron Burwash. We are going to have a gathering of the drum with Elder Margaret and Tipi teachings as well. I want to invite everyone down to share in the teachings in the tipis with April Head Nickel, Jenilee Lengyel, Allie Krasolowski and Christie Janvier."

 

There will also be fiddling music, opening remarks from community leaders, musical headliner Just The Boys, a free barbecue and face painting, culture games, bubble station and crafts for the kids.

 

It all takes place at the Creighton School Field starting at 1pm.
