Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) continues to actively investigate the June 1st shooting in Pelican Narrows that resulted in the death of one individual, and serious injury to another.
The deceased has been identified as a 28-year-old female from Pelican Narrows. The injured is an adult male. His injuries are now considered to be non-life-threatening in nature.
HIU officers are in Pelican Narrows speaking to witnesses and gathering evidence.
Investigators believe an altercation occurred at a residence between a group of individuals known to one another. The female was injured at a residence on Chachakew Street, then the male was injured minutes later, on the road that is in proximity to the local health clinic.
Investigators have confirmed the altercation did not occur in the clinic. Saskatchewan RCMP issued a dangerous person alert in relation to this incident as initial information indicated it occurred at the clinic and it was possibly random in nature.
Investigators have obtained video of a suspect in this shooting. The suspect is described as a male, who was wearing all black and was carrying a handgun and a cellphone.
Residents of Pelican Narrows will notice a continued increased police presence in the community. Investigators thank community members for their patience with the increased police presence, and all who have provided information to them.
