City Budget Meeting

The City of Flin Flon hosted their annual Budget meeting Tuesday night at Council Chambers.

City Treasurer Lynn Brown chaired the meeting and prepared the presentation.

The City will be spending just over 1.5 million dollars on Capital projects this year including public transportation, tourist park upgrades, library upgrades, the Uptown Curling Club, water truck, Tourist Park, Camp Whitney and cemeteries.

The City will also be replacing the Pine Avenue Bridge which is going to cost over a million dollars. The good news is they got a grant from the provincial government which will cover over $600,000.00 of the cost, meaning the city will only have to pay a third of the cost.

The Mill Rate will go up slightly for people who have an assessed home at $60,000.00 to roughly $72.00 more for taxes this year,  while a person with an assessed home of $400,000.00 will pay roughly $400.00 more in taxes for this year.
