The Flin Flon Gas Bar is an institution in our community and now has new owners and operators.
Former employees Damian and Mel Dominey are the new owners and are leasing the business and property from Suncor. Both owners worked for Dennis Bouteiller in the 90’s and have returned to the business they worked at in high school.
Damian Dominey explains why they wanted to take the business over from the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and some of the hurdles they have encountered so far. " There is such a history at that location and they have employed a lot of kids over the years. We didn't want to see the place shut down because that is how it was looking like. It has been a challenge, not being a business owner you have so many hoops you have to jump through with the government with selling tobacco and lottery. The public has been great as we continue to settle in and get set up."
The Dominey’s took over the business as of April the 1st and employ 8 people with the hours 6am to 11pm,7 days a week.
