Art Unexpected

A project starting from British Columbia is working on bringing a specific form of rebuilding from last summer’s wildfires. Known as “Art Unexpected” Local Liaison Crystal Kolt lets us know more

“There’s former Flin Flonner’s, who are now living on the West coast, that got together and they thought wouldn’t it be lovely to be able to uplift people’s spirits, from their homes that were completely destroyed and families that lost everything, to be able to give them a work of art. And, what they started to do was ask around to see who would donate a work of art, and so this would be collected and would be given freely to people in our communities who would like to receive artwork.”

Former Flin Flonner’s who began Art Unexpected include Miles and Elaine Donaldson, Brenda Russell, and Wayne Fraser.  The goal is to provide a piece of art to each family that suffered loss of residence. The artwork will be distributed during Culture Days this fall at an event at the Flin Flon Community Hall. If you are an artist and would like to donate an original piece or not an artist but would like to donate a piece of local art you own - contact Crystal Kolt Director, Culture & Community Initiatives for the City at 1-833-210-6435 ext. 556 or email ckolt@flinflon.ca
