Public Safety Committee Up And Going

Flin Flon City Councillor Mike Slipp was the most recent guest on the City Beat program which airs on 102.9 CFAR Wednesday afternoons at 3:30pm.

Slipp was in to talk about the Public Safety Committee which he chairs and the progress that they are making. " SGT Steve Brushett and I talked and we thought we should get this back together again. So we did,  and again it got off to a great start and it was going well. We did struggle on how we were going to format meetings and things like that. Out of the blue, we got a call from Canadian Centre for Safer Communities and Manitoba Justice asking us if we would like their assistance.I said absolutely and you couldn't of called at a better time."

They have a plan that includes putting together an Advisory Committee that includes a real diverse group of people and organizations from various centres in the community. They expect it to take about 8 to 10 months to get this plan fully  together,  and will be bringing in  different representatives from Manitoba Justice and Canadian Centres for Safer Communities for a meeting in May.
