Councillor Mike Slipp kicked off the meeting congratulating the U-13 Kinsmen Bombers on winning the U-13 Hockey Provincials which were hosted in Flin Flon this past weekend. He also congratulated the host committee on a fantastic job and wished the JR Bombers the best of luck in the SJHL playoffs starting on Friday.
Coucil was able to meet with the Provincial Finance Minister Adrien Sala by Zoom which was rescheduled from a few weeks ago when Sala was to fly up from Winnipeg but couldn’t make the trip because of bad weather. Flin Flon City Council was able to hold conversations with how funding is provided, some financial projects they will be looking for assistance on, and how to tackle the Flin Flon Saskatchewan situation where there are residents who live on the Saskatchewan side but pay taxes in Manitoba.
The 2027 Home Coming Committee applied for a grant with the City Of Flin Flon for $20,000.00 to go towards their budget of $150,000.00 which was approved.
City Council is very excited about the opening of the new swimming pool and have hired four lifeguards and are still looking for a few more.
They will be opening as soon as all the staff is hired, trained and all the equipment is safely in place. More infrastructure work is planned for Flin Flon’s downtown that will include waste water and waterworks and paving from Canada Post to the Sask Border.
Work is to begin once the ground thaws out.
