Carrot River RCMP arrested and charged an adult male with aggravated assault and forcible confinement in relation to an incident that occurred on Shoal Lake Cree Nation.

 

On March 10th, Carrot River RCMP received a report of a shooting on Shoal Lake Cree Nation.

 

Officers responded immediately, along with local EMS, and located an injured male in a vehicle on Highway #55. The injured male was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious in nature.

 

Investigation determined an altercation occurred between two adult males at a residence on Shoal Lake Cree Nation. During the altercation, a firearm was discharged and one of the males was injured. The injured male exited the residence. The other male, who was still inside the residence, prevented a female from leaving the residence. The female did not report physical injuries to police.

 

As a result of continued investigation, Carrot River RCMP made an arrest.

 

34-year-old Billy Whitecap from Red Earth Cree Nation is charged with multiple offenses including  one count of aggravated assault and one count of forcible confinement.

 

Carrot River RCMP continue to investigate.
