The emergency room at Flin Flon General Hospital will soon undergo major renovations and residents of surrounding communities will have an opportunity to provide input during the first in a series of public meetings starting next week. The open house will take place in city council chambers Tuesday evening from 7 to 9.
The Flin Flon Emergency Room Redevelopment Steering Committee includes the Mayors of Flin Fon, Denare Beach, Creighton and representatives from Cranberry Portage, the region’s board, Hudbay, Manitoba Health and the Northern Health Region staff. The committee has committed to regular open house meetings to keep members informed and seek their views as the project progresses.
Construction is slated to begin on the 22 million dollars project in the spring of 2015 with completion anticipated in late 2017. A community contribution of 2.2 million dollars is a requirement of the project with fund raising plans to be announced later this spring.
