Flin Flon City Council made that announcement as part of their City Council meeting on Tuesday night in Council Chambers.
The new Transit Bus is part of a 2.2 million dollar Federal Transportation grant that also included new bus shelters and sidewalks which were added back in the fall. There is still some money left over, so they will add a few more sidewalks in the community starting in the Spring. The new bus is also wheel chair accessible.
Things are starting to progress with the new Public Safety Awareness Committee. Councillor Slipp and Deputy Mayor Alison Dallas Funk commented that they are working closely with the RCMP to select appropriate spots to install cameras around town.
Councillor Slipp also mentioned that residents can take advantage of a camera rebate program for their personal properties for $150.00, and there is also a $300.00 rebate for businesses to add cameras courtesy of the Provincial Government.
Monthly meetings are going to start soon to keep the public updated on their progress.
The City Of Flin Flon has extended the Business Store Front Grant, where any business in Flin Flon can apply for up to $10,000.00 to improve the front of their business. This is a matching grant and the City has a total of $60,000.00 in funds available.
Councillor Judy Eagle wrapped up the meeting by mentioning that City Council had made a donation of $500.00 towards the 4th annual Jimmy Custer Memorial Dog Sled Races.
