Cranberry Feedback Session

Cranberry is preparing for their 100th anniversary which will be taking place in 2028. This past weekend residents held a meeting to get feedback on how they would like to see the community showcased.

Barb Bragg says the meeting went well and there is a lot of excitement moving forward.

“It’s really about what we can do for our residents in town, but also, how can we become a destination place? That brings people from the South and the North to Cranberry Portage. Which can stimulate some economic development and interest in our community. Because it’s an absolutely incredible community that needs to be spoken about and talked about and we need people to stop as they drive through.”

Some of the ideas they have moving forward include an upscale of their downtown, doing a lot of new activities and adding structures around Athapap lake which they feel will boost tourism. They also want to promote the history of the area which includes the fur trade route by adding signage to all the historical land marks in the area.

Bragg added they will start to apply for grants to support all of the projects and will continue to update people on their community Facebook page and if you have any ideas, or questions send an e-mail to discovercranberryportage@gmail.com. or text 204-680-6003 for more information.
