Flin Flon City Council were back at Council Chambers for the first time in 2026.
Council passed a couple of motions on Tuesday night including final reading on the Home Owners Assistance Plan, for Flin Flon residents on the Saskatchewan side to receive their benefit cheque.
The City has signed an agreement with the Flin Flon Airport for a parking agreement and for rental of the Hangar for the rest of 2026.
Just before Christmas, the City hosted a public forum on the re-zoning of an area in Channing be changed from light industrial to heavy industrial. Council provided an update saying they were waiting for a new map that includes the proper images.
Residents who attended filled out a Nature of Objection which was sent to the Provincial Government and Council is waiting to hear back on the results from the province.
Mayor Fontaine concluded the meeting commenting on the construction of the new snow hotel which is being built over by the Flin Flon Rotary Wheel.
City Council is very much looking forward to the opening on January the 30th which will include a lot of great activities that will help celebrate Winter in Flin Flon and area.
Invitations have been sent out to various dignitaries across the province and country to attend the celebration.
