Deputy Mayor Alison Dallas Funk mentioned that they have received a grant from the Manitoba Government which is the Manitoba Gro Grant. The City has received $2.45 million dollars to go towards the new Aqua Centre build.
The City also went to bat for residents of Flin Flon Saskatchewan to make sure they were approved for the 2025 Home Owner's Tax Credit. Even though these people reside on the Saskatchewan side of the border their kids attend school in Manitoba. They were exempt but now will receive a credit of up to $15,00.00.
Other topics that were discussed include the city updating their 2026 Emergency Plan to include contact information, responsibilities , emergency procedures for everything from wildfires to snow storms, evacuations and any other form of emergency.
The City Of Flin Flon has approved CAO Joy Capyk, Utilities Supervisor Dan Hotel and Fire Chief Jason Kuras attend the Manitoba Disaster Management Conference in Winnipeg in January of 2026.
The City of Flin Flon has also come into agreement with Foran for the naming rights of the new lap pool at the Aqua Centre for a sponsorship of $250,000.00.
Mayor Fontaine wrapped up the meeting by wishing all residents in Flin Flon and the surrounding area a Very Merry Christmas and hopes everyonr has a safe holiday season.
