Jordan McPhail the MLA for Cumberland was in Creighton and Denare Beach on Monday to speak to both councils, see updates in Denare Beach and speak to residents on progress from the government on the Wolf Fire.
McPhail says the NDP continue to press the Sask Party to make sure the issues in the area are being resolved. " We just finished the fall session here and tried to get some answers out of this government by talking about a public inquiry into the wildfire situation that we had over the summer. No stranger to anyone here on the issues surrounding that. We called for that, we called for the removal of PST on construction labour and removal of the fees for Line Lifts and help these folks get their lives rebuilt. Obviously last week we saw a shuffle in cabinet, and I wanted to make sure I got back up to the community and make sure we are keeping our finger on the pulse of the issues that the people are facing with the rebuild."
The Saskatchewan NDP were also in Saskatoon on Tuesday and called on the new Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) to commit to launching an independent public inquiry into the disastrous 2025 wildfire response that saw entire communities burn to the ground.
The Saskatchewan NDP continues to call on Premier Moe and his Minister to stop taxing wildfire victims for rebuilding their homes, and to develop a comprehensive, province-wide wildfire strategy with northern leaders and experts.
