The Association of Manitoba Municipalities held their yearly meeting in Winnipeg last week with over 137 communities represented including a strong contingent from Northern Manitoba.
Among the highlights was the AMM recognizing a person right from here in Flin Flon. Karen MacKinnon was named an Honorary Life Member for her many years of service for Flin Flon and the Province and was honored to receive this prestigious award. " I first heard about the award just after we got back from evacuation in July and I got an e-mail from AMM saying they were going to honor me. It felt really good at the time esoecially after what we just went through. It felt very good just to receive it because it is a major honor. I feel very privileged to receive it."
MacKinnon wanted to thank the citizens of Flin Flon for giving her the privilege to serve them for so many years. MacKinnon was the longest serving female AMM Board Of Director for 14 years, and was very happy to reconnect with so many people she had a chance to meet across the province the last several years.
