An opposing view on nuclear waste storage will be presented

The Flin Flon and District Chamber of Commerce was advised yesterday that a public meeting will be held at the Public Library on the evening of March 5th regarding the proposed nuclear waste storage facility for Creighton.  A group opposed to the proposal will make a presentation so the public will know both sides of the issue.  Mark Ryland Pritchard is an independent energy consultant in Saskatoon, Dave Geary from Saskatoon has been studying the Canadian nuclear industry in depth since 1990 and Candyce and Marius Paul are members of the Committee for Future Generations and are from the English River First Nation which was on the list in the site selection process.  They have done extensive research about high level nuclear waste.  The Chamber agreed to move their first general meeting next month to Wednesday, March 5th to allow this group to speak to their members as well.

In other business the Chamber will look into a suggestion that they consider partnering with Hudbay and the City of Flin Flon to host an opening ceremony for the Trout Festival at Pioneer Square that will include a barbeque, entertainment and will offer an opportunity for family involvement.
