Snow, water and fire calls were all part of the Flin Flon City Council meeting last night

Council received the Fire Chiefs report for January indicating three calls during the month, a structure fire, false alarm and assistance to ambulance services.

Council had praise for the city employees who have been working on water line freeze ups and broken pipes over a very cold winter.  Administrator Mark Kolt says there were more than normal in October and November but the numbers have since returned to normal.  He also mentioned Council had considered a reduction in snow removal as a cost cutting measure but with all the snow this winter that won’t be happening.

Councilor Colleen McKee reported on a recent meeting held by the Nuclear Waste Management Organization in Creighton as the town moves into the next phase of looking into hosting a nuclear waste storage site.  She says this phase will include more assessment work and awareness in the community and surrounding communities, preliminary field operations and environmental issues.

Council agreed to move their next meeting from February 18th to the 11th.
