The Crime Stoppers Program continues to get good results

January was Crime Stoppers Month.  Manitoba Crime Stoppers was formed in 1985 as a way for people to anonymously provide police with information about a crime.  Their Provincial Coordinator Sergeant Tom Cooney says last year they received 699 tips.  From those tips he says they were able to make 83 arrests, they cleared 206 cases which means there’s 206 files that they wouldn’t have cleared or would have went unsolved without the tips coming in.  He adds from that they seized over 600 thousand dollars in stolen property, 1.3 million dollars in drugs and another 35 thousand dollars in cash.

Flin Flon city council recently made their annual donation to the program at ten cents per capita.
