You are encouraged to learn more about dementia and Alzheimer disease

This is Alzheimer Awareness month and the Program Director for the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Norma Kirkby says people should see a doctor if they have concerns about changes taking place in memory loss or making daily decisions.  She says one of the things they know is that not all memory loss or confusion might be the result of dementia, it might be the result of some other illness and so by going when there are those signs if it is another medical condition causing the confusion or the memory loss then treatment can be sought for those.  She says if it isn’t that there is another occurring condition then it will help to begin the process of examining whether it might be some form of dementia or Alzheimer disease or some other cause.

Kirkby says you can get more information at their website www.alzheimer.mb.ca or people in the Flin Flon area can call their Winnipeg office toll free at 1-800-378-6699.
