City Of Flin Flon Hosts Public Hearing

The City of Flin Flon hosted a public hearing for the amendment of development and re-zoning of Kingsway Park.

Flin Flon Mayor George Fontaine welcomed everyone and was quick to point out that the city was only in the planning stages and no final decisions had been made yet.

The City is in the planning stages in line with the community’s vision for growth and wanted to give the residents in our community a chance  to get more information and ask questions about the proposal.

Several residents from the area spoke up about their thoughts of re-zoning the park including  Leslie Pabianik who has lived in this neighborhood for over 35 years.

Leslie talked about this reach green space park and how many people use it including the Disc Golf group, people out walking with their pets, children playing and the overall beauty of the park. Leslie requested on behalf of the other residents in the area that the City look for other alternatives.

Shauna Rutherford also made a presentation and mentioned that she has lived in this area for over 30 years.

Shauna also commented on the Green Space being used by many people and the significance to not only the neighborhood but the entire community of Flin Flon as it is regarded as the most beautiful park in the community.

Rutherford also mentioned that there are over 100 serviced and vacant lots that the City could look at for re-zoning.

The meeting concluded with questions from the floor and Mayor Fontaine said they would render a decision in the next few weeks  on the information given at the meeting and comment cards that people filled out at the meeting.
