Last Friday , Little Grand Rapids RCMP received a report of an assault that had occurred two weeks prior in the community of Pauingassi First Nation.
The victim, a 41-year-old female from the community, was in critical condition at a hospital in Winnipeg.
This past Monday, the victim, Melissa Owens-Keeper, died in hospital. Her death is considered suspicious and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services has taken over the investigation.
The RCMP is asking anyone with information or who had contact with Melissa Owens-Keeper between August 30 and September 12th , to please call the Little Grand Rapids RCMP Detachment at 204-397-2249.
Little Grand Rapids RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.
