Progress continues to be made for student housing for UCN and the Northern Manitoba Mining Academy at the lot right next to the Whitney Forum.
The new residence will accommodate students enrolled in UCN’S growing programs including the Mining Readiness program.
Jamie Grant the Associate Vice President updates us on the progress. " We are making good progress and our services are all going to be connected to the building, so that is obviously our power and all the water and sewer lines. We are working with all the service providers plus all the civil work that is being done with parking lots and trenching and all those requirements. All that is going to happening over the next month, month and a half , and we are looking at a target date of late November for an opening for students."
30 rooms will be available for students as well as a Rec Centre, Commercial Kitchen and Dining Hall. Then they will expand their program once the housing is up and running. Any questions you can reach out to the Northern Manitoba Mining Academy at 204-687-7038.
