On September 3rd , Prince Albert RCMP were notified by Buckland Fire and Resue of a large grass fire burning along Highway #2, approximately 5 kilometers North of Prince Albert. Initial reports indicated that the grass fire may have been intentionally set.
Prince Albert RCMP responded immediately, and investigation determined the fire to be human caused.
35-year-old Larry Bird of Little Red River First Nation, was arrested near the scene and is charged with one count, arson – damage to property, , and one count, failure to comply with the conditions of a probation order.
Bird is also charged with an allegation of breaching the conditions of a conditional sentence order from July.
Larry Bird is remanded into custody and was to appear in court Friday.
