City Council have appointed Joy Capyk as the new Chief Administrative Officer as of September the 1st. Joy will replace Lynn Brown who has held the position since 2017.
Joy has a degree from the U of M and a CMMA certificate.
Lynne will continue to stay on as the City Treasurer.
The Provincial government will be arriving in Flin Flon next week to start painting cross walks on all the provincial road ways and get started on installing new lights and paving around the old CO-OP and dental buildings.
Members of City Council attended the latest City Caucus meetings in Steinbach and participated in discussions on how they handled the wildfire evacuations back in May and June. They explained how they were able to utilize staff and Government Agencies. They also discussed on how to use Bail Reform.
The Flin Flon Public Library is now closed for 6 weeks so they can repair the upstairs bathrooms which will also include the building of a new handicapped bathroom. The City obtained a grant to cover most of the costs.
A citizen attended the meeting and wanted clarification on the removal of trees around the Joe Brain Petting Zoo. Mayor Fontaine explained it was due to safety as a number of trees were falling down and were becoming a hazard.
