Last week Flin Flon Mayor George Fontaine, Deputy Mayor Alison Dallas Funk and Councillor Mike Slipp attended the Manitoba Cities Caucus meeting in Steinbach.

Councillor Mike Slipp says they had the opportunity to share and get ideas. 

" We get together and talk about issues and things that have happened both good and bad. We talked a lot about the fires and how it was handled and what we could do better and things like that. It was interesting because we got to hear from the  people on the receiving end of our evacuees, from Dauphin, Portage, Brandon and how they were affected by the fires. The fire is one thing but these people took our people in and also sent fire fighters up."

They also had a chance to talk about issues like fees for rec facilities and they had a chance to meet with Glenn Simard the Minister for Municipalities and Northern Affairs. The meeting was very productive and there will be a full report on the next City Beat program.
