Karen Mackinnon and Lorne Moorhead representing the Flin Flon Aqua Centre Volunteer Committee were at the meeting to draw the winners from the Senior Challenge.
This was started over a year ago and the draws had to be rescheduled this past Tuesday due to the wildfire in June. Congratulations to the winners Nora Fontaine who received a print donated by Randy Whitbread, Dianne Stadnick who won the quilt from Northstar Quilt Guild and Lizzy Kennedy was the lucky winner of a year pool pass from the City Of Flin Flon. A total of $12,635.00 was donated.
The City gave first reading on a bylaw to authorize the borrowing of money for the design and construction of the new Aqua Centre. The City will continue to look for more grants and fundraising ideas.
Construction on roads has started with Maple Leaf Construction who are paving many roads throughout the community and work will start soon on new sidewalks and shelters for the new city bus which will hit the streets in September.
The City is also waiting for reimbursement of around 2 million dollars to help offset the costs of the wildfire from the Disaster Financial Assistance Fund, MB Wildfire and the Office Of The Fire Commissionaire.
