We have just over a month remaining in the Trout Festival month long fishing derby which was extended due to the wildfire around Flin Flon at the end of May and into June.
The Trout Festival’s Dianne Russell tells us things are going well despite the late start. " We are pretty excited we got to extend it because it was pretty hard for us to lose everything for that whole month of evacuation . We wanted to do something positive and this is just one of the events that has been rescheduled. I encourage everyone if you are going out fishing stop by one of our locations and grab a quick ticket and then you can enter your fish and maybe win some cash. This makes it more fun too, and we appreciate you for supporting this event."
$15,00.00 is up for grabs for first place in the Trout, Northern Pike and Walleye categories. There will be a chance to win lots of other prizes to. Don’t forget you can fish any lake on both the Manitoba and Saskatchewan side north of the 54th parallel.
Fishing Kits are available at the Gateway, Creighton Recreation Tourism Office, Rubi’s Outdoors and T and D Amisk and you can submit photos of your fish by September the 14th by going to troutfestival.com.
