Efforts Continue To Battle Snow Lake Fire

Here is the latest on the Snow Lake fire situation as efforts continued to battle the blaze through the weekend.

Local crews continued their monitoring and suppression efforts overnight along 395 and in the 3 zone. Overall, these areas remained fairly quiet yesterday, allowing crews to move more deeply to secure established control lines.

Some rain did fall in town late last night. Today the forecasted high temperature is 23C and there is a 60% chance of showers. After today, the forecasted high temperatures for the days ahead are all lower, with none of them reaching above 20C.

Crews from Strilkiwski and MB Hydro continue to work together to drive a road into the area where hydro infrastructure has been damaged northwest of town. Originally estimated to take 5 days, this road work should be completed later this afternoon, 3 days after it began. Once the area has been reached, MB Hydro crews can do a full assessment of the damage so that repairs can begin.
