This past Monday Nipawin RCMP received a report of a serious wildlife-related collision on Highway #55, approximately 2 kilometers west of Smeaton.
Officers responded along with local fire and EMS. A passenger in the vehicle was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 50-year-old male from Prince Albert. His family has been notified.
The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was transported to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life threatening in nature.
A second adult male passenger reported no physical injuries to police.
Investigation determined the vehicle struck a moose.
Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate.
