Over 200 homes were lost in Denare Beach and the Flin Flon and Creighton Lake Front due to the recent wildfires that ripped through the area.
University College Of The North wants to reach out to people who lost homes and are looking to rebuild by providing temporary housing. The Associate Vice President of Community and Industry Solutions Jamie Grant explains.
" We have talked internally about how do we help Denare Beach and the rebuilding efforts that will be taking place out there the next couple of years. Housing will be a big one and we are looking at the option of opening up some of our available suites. We will see what we have available for contractors or construction companies or crews who may need temporary housing while they are in our area. We feel UCN and the Mining Academy can give back to the community and Denare Beach with such a loss out there."
The UCN Student residence is located right next to the Whitney Forum and students will have first choice on units that are available. Grant went on to say that they would like to start moving in people by late October and you can call 204-687- 7038 for more information.
