The City Of Flin Flon , Town of Creighton as well as the SPSA, RCMP and Resources gathered for another meeting on the Club fire last night which is directly affecting Flin Flon and Creighton.
Creighton Mayor Bruce Fiddler confirmed that the fire is slowly growing. " Well it has grown to 1200 hectares presently, and it is moving north east because of the winds blowing from the south right now. This is very beneficial for the communities as it is being pushed away from the communities including the smoke. It is moving into Manitoba and it is affecting both provinces and we have the water bombers and fire crews battling it all the time. A Retardent plane has been brought in and it dumped along the south side of the fire."
The Firefighters will continue to battle the fire throughout the night and there will be another meeting at 11 am today to update everyone on the progress.
The Cliff Lake Road and Kisseynew Lake Road are now closed to the public, as the fire has crossed the Kisseynew Lake Road north of Trout Lake Mine. The road will be closed at the Trout Lake Mine road access, and it is essential that community members obey this closure.
