Mill Rate Will Stay The Same

The City of Flin Flon held their annual budget meeting this past Thursday at City Council Chambers.

 

Lynn Brown the City’s C.EO. and Treasurer chaired the meeting and mentioned the Mill Rate would stay the same and there would be a slight increase of $184.00 for the year for the Special Service Levy.

 

The City Budget will stay the same as last year and will slightly be over $13,000.00. The Budgeted values will include Grants in Lieu, Non Government Grants in lieu, Conditional Grants, Taxation and Transfer in Reserves.

 

The City also presented their biggest expenditures which will include Protective Services, General Government,Recreation and Culture, Development, Environmental Health and Public works at just over $11,000.00.

 

The City also presented their plan moving forward and how they may be able to increase their revenue. Moving forward the City will be increasing Municipal Core Funding, incorporating an entertainment tax, increased income through land sales and development, targeted fundraising and applying for more grants.

 

There is also the grant in lieu of Hudbay where the city is sharing the $3.8 million dollars with the Flin Flon School Division. This will be re-negotiated in 2027.
