Due to current dry conditions right across the province, high fire activity and extreme fire risk, Saskatchewan has issued a provincial fire ban effective today.

The ban will encompass the area North of the provincial forest boundary up to Churchill river. The fire ban prohibits any open fires, controlled burns, and fireworks including provincial parks, provincial recreational sites, and the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.

There are currently 28 fires burning across the province and to date Saskatchewan has had 133 wildfires which is 20 more than at the same point in time last year of 113.
