FF Recycling Centre Held Their AGM

The Flin Flon Recycling Centre held their AGM Monday night at Johnny’s Social Club.

Administrator Deb Odegaard chaired the meeting and thanked her staff, the board and all their volunteers for their continued hard work.

After a few years on the decline, Odegaard did report that they did  see a slight increase in recycling this past year with a total of 428 tonnes being recycled which did not include glass.

The Curbside Pickup has gone over very well in Creighton and Denare Beach but could see better results in Flin Flon. The Recycling Centre reported that 23 % of their revenue comes from Municipal, 33 % from the Producer Responsive Organization and the rest they raise locally.

Odegaard is very positive heading into the rest of 2025 and beyond. " I think there are a lot of people that are recycling which is wonderful and we appreciate those who are. We had lower toneges the last couple of years and there is lots of good reasons for that and we just want to keep encouraging people to recycle. We have a great staff who works hard and a board that works well and I think recycling looks bright. There is definately challenges in terms of some of the funding and some of the changes that are coming to our programs. I am definately quite positive about what is happening."

They have had positive meetings with representatives from Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach as they are looking for additional funding.

Bob Putko, Ron Potkonjak, Kirk Spreadborough and Paul Harrison were all re-elected for the board for a two year term.

The Recycling Centre also recognized some people with awards including The Town Of Creighton with the Community Champion Award, Rachel Roberts with the Employee Service Award and Board Service Recognition.
