At their meeting in Council Chambers on Tuesday night, Flin Flon City Council has agreed to purchase both the Whitney House and Staff House for $100.00. The City has done some minor alterations including some painting and new flooring.

 

The purchase of these two buildings has allowed them to host some events and will also be used to house the cast and orchestra coming in for the Annie production and some geologists who will be coming in for a study from the U of M.

 

Mayor George Fontaine and Deputy Mayor Alison Dallas Funk recently attended the AMM Conference in Winnipeg and said it went really well with a chance to meet with many Ministers and presenters at the Manitoba Legislature.

 

They are going to explore more funding for community business opportunities and a Mentorship program that will help with the transfer of knowledge. They are also looking into the Manitoba Grow grant program for additional funding for the new swimming pool.

 

Preparation continues for the City Budget and they are waiting for approval from the Municipal Board on the Special Service Levy and then they will announce a date.
