Last Thursday, RCMP North District Traffic Services conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle located approximately 50 kilometres south of Grand Rapids on Highway 6.

An officer approached the vehicle, with two occupants, and spoke with the driver, and observed open liquor in the vehicle.

 The driver, along with the 28-year-old male passenger,  from Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation, were immediately placed under arrest .

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of additional bottles of liquor, a sawed-off shotgun, a duffel bag containing a large amount of Canadian currency and other drug-related paraphernalia.

Brenden Ettawacappo, 30, and Braden Simpson, 28, were both remanded into custody on charges including Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and several additional firearm-related offences.

RCMP continue to investigate.
