University College Of The North will offer student housing in Flin Flon starting this fall thanks to a two million dollar investment from multiple funding sources.
Jamie Grant who is the Associate Vice President of Community and Industry Solutions, says the funding will allow them to offer many programs for students in Flin Flon and all over the North.
" We are going to be able to bring programming into Flin Flon that we have never been able to do before, because of having that student housing available. It has always been one of our biggest challenges and one of our biggest barriers, is where do students stay when they are accessing training. Now having this on site, close to our training centres we will be able to bring lots of programs to Flin Flon and the North. This is very exciting for us."
The new modular student housing is being mobilized outside of the Northern Mining Academy next to the Whitney Forum. There is an active construction site going on right now and the intention is to be fully operational by this August and ready for students in the fall.
