Two Long Time Flin Flon Citizens Receive King's Coronation Medals

A couple of long time Flin Flon residents received Kings Coronation medals at a ceremony at the Manitoba Legislature on Monday. These awards are presented to recognize people who go well above the call of duty volunteering and making a difference in their communities.

Flin Flon MLA Tom Lindsay was there for the ceremony and says this year’s recipients are very deserving.  " The first recipient is Tom Davie , who is a long time labour activist who started off his career in the Smelter and worked his way up through the Union to become President. He really did a lot of things that people don't realize as  he was fighting not just for the workers he represented but to try to keep a much work in Flin Flon for people living here. The second recipient is Joe McCormick who was the voice of Flin Flon on CFAR  for 53 years. He is well known in the community and any events taking place in Flin Flon you could count on Joe being there with his recoreder to take a few comments on what was happening."

The awards were presented by the Manitoba Lieutenant Governor Anita Neville with the Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew also in attendance. The Flin Flon recipients were two of over 200 medals which were presented to people across the province.
