Late last week NDP candidate Niki Ashton reacted to the class action lawsuit over failures in the First Nations child welfare system.
Three First Nations including Black River First Nation, Pimicikamak Cree Nation and Misipawistik Cree Nation are having their day in court and Niki Ashton says it is very important to show these First Nations our support.
" For me it is very important for these communities to be supported in seeking this justice. We know that there is a history of Indigenous children being taken advantage of, neglected and even abused in residential schools and day schools. I think it is so important that these First Nations are bringing forth the need to seek justice."
Ashton and the NDP are preparing for the Federal Election on April the 28th and will be visiting all the communities in their constituency leading up to the election including Flin Flon.
