We are now just 3 weeks away from the federal election which could go down as one of the most important in this country’s history.
One riding to watch will be the Desnethe- Missinippi-Churchill River Constituency which covers Creighton and Denare Beach.
The candidates that are running for MP in the up coming election include Jim Lemaigre for the Conservatives, Buckey Belanger for the Liberals, Doug Racine for the NDP and Jackie Hanson for the Green Party of Canada. Incumbent Conservative MP Gary Vidal, who has been in office since 2019, is not running for re-election because of electoral boundary changes.
The new electoral boundary for Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River now cuts off Gary Vidal’s hometown of Meadow Lake, as well as other Conservative strongholds such as Goodsoil, Loon Lake and Pierceland. In addition, Belanger and Lemaigre are both former MLAs for Athabasca for the NDP and Saskatchewan Party, respectively.
Advance voting is taking place in Denare Beach and will take place at the Denareplex in Laronge , and the hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm. Saturday 9 to 6pm and Sunday noon to 4pm.
