The City Of Flin Flon Has Been Declined Additional Funding For Roads

Mayor George Fontaine kicked off Tuesday’s City Council Meeting reading a letter that the City had received from the Provinces Outcomes and Strategic Policy Division .

The letter indicated that the grant application they had applied for was rejected at this time and invited the City Of Flin Flon to apply for additional funding in the future. City Councillor’s Alison Dallas Funk, Judy Eagle, Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Brown and Mayor George Fontaine will be attending the AMM Spring  Conference in Winnipeg April the 13th,14th and 15th and will meet with different Ministers to get more clarification on why they were rejected.

The City does have $900,000.00 budgeted for roads and this grant was going to add to that. Work has been confirmed for Sipple Hill and Third Avenue and other residential roads.

Lynn Brown commented about the Special Service Levy meeting they held recently and rates will only go up 1.5 % per year and now they will fill out an application for approval with the province that will include comments and concerns from the residents in attendance. They should hear back in about 3 to 4 weeks.

The City expects to hold their City Budget Meeting mid to late May and expect the budget to be set at about $13.4 million. An official announcement is expected soon.
